TaylorMade Qi4D vs. Titleist GTS2 vs. Callaway Quantum Max: Which 2026 Driver Fits You?

TaylorMade Qi4D vs. Titleist GTS2 vs. Callaway Quantum Max: Which 2026 Driver Fits You?

The short answer: all three are excellent 2026 drivers, so buy the one that fits your miss and your budget. The Titleist GTS2 is the forgiving, high-launch, mid-spin pick and the most expensive at $699. The TaylorMade Qi4D ($649.99) is the most adjustable, with four weight settings and REAX shafts matched to your swing. The Callaway Quantum Max ($650) is the speed pick, with a compact head and low-ish spin. If you slice, look at the Qi4D Max or Quantum Max D instead of any of the three core models.

TaylorMade Qi4D: The Most Adjustable

The Qi4D is TaylorMade’s core 2026 driver, aimed at golfers who want a balance of distance and forgiveness. The 60X Carbon TwistFace uses a new roll radius that TaylorMade says tightens spin across high and low strikes, and the redesigned Speed Pocket is meant to save ball speed on low hits. Two weight ports on the trailing edge give four setups: stock (most forgiving), max distance, fade and draw.

In Plugged In Golf’s testing, the Qi4D beat the Qi35 by nearly 2 mph of ball speed, with half a degree more launch, slightly less spin, tighter dispersion and 7 more yards of carry. Not every setting behaved as advertised, though: the max-distance setting actually added spin for that tester, and the fade setting sent shots well right. The new REAX shafts (red, blue and white) are matched to how much you rotate the club, which makes a fitting more valuable than usual.

Pick the right Qi4D: TGW points 8–20 handicaps swinging 90–108 mph to the core Qi4D, sub-90 mph swingers to the Max or Max Lite, and 105+ mph players to the LS.

Titleist GTS2: The Forgiving High-Launcher

The GTS2 is the most forgiving of Titleist’s three GTS drivers (GTS2, GTS3, GTS4), launching on June 11, 2026, at $699. It has a larger profile than the GTS3 and GTS4, a raised tail for airflow, lofts from 8° to 11°, and a Split Mass Frame with a full thermoform body that frees up weight for the swappable front and rear weights (11g front, 5g back as standard).

Plugged In Golf called it “one of the most impressive drivers I’ve hit this year.” Their tester saw high, carrying trajectories and very consistent spin, mostly within a 400 rpm window. With the heavier weight in the back, their fitter said it rivals other brands’ max-forgiveness heads. The trade-offs: spin is mid at most, so it is not the driver for golfers who need help getting the ball up with spin; the gloss-black look is plain; and the gain over a GT2 is small. If you already have a well-fit GT2, keep it.

Callaway Quantum Max: The Speed Pick

The Quantum Max is Callaway’s core 2026 driver, released Feb. 13 at $650. Its Tri-Force face combines titanium, a poly mesh layer and an internal carbon insert, which Callaway says is a first in a driver. The 460cc head is a little more compact than the Elyte it replaces, the spin profile is mid-to-low, and a rear weight can be set neutral or with a slight draw bias.

GolfMagic found the Quantum Max among the fastest core drivers it tested this year, with 138.4 mph of ball speed and 2,201 rpm of spin in its test, and a firmer, more solid feel than the Elyte. Their caveats: ball speed drops a few mph on off-center hits, it is less forgiving than the Max D, and the gain over an Elyte is marginal. If your miss is a slice, the Quantum Max D ($650) is the better Callaway.

Which One Should You Buy?

Buy the Titleist GTS2 if forgiveness and a high, carrying flight matter most and you do not need extra spin. Buy the TaylorMade Qi4D if you want to tune ball flight and get fit for the REAX shaft. Buy the Callaway Quantum Max if you strike it fairly consistently and want maximum speed in a compact head. Slicers should skip all three core heads for the Qi4D Max or Quantum Max D, and high-spin, fast swingers should look at the Qi4D LS, GTS3 or GTS4.

Whatever you choose, get fit or at least hit it on a launch monitor first. All three reviewers found the gains over last year’s models were small, so a well-fit 2025 driver can be the smarter buy; see our Qi4D vs. Qi35 and GT2 vs. GT3 vs. GT4 breakdowns.

Forgiveness: GTS2. Adjustability: Qi4D. Speed: Quantum Max. Slice: the Max or Max D version instead.
Is the Titleist GTS2 better than the TaylorMade Qi4D?

Neither is better for everyone. The GTS2 is the more forgiving, higher-launching head and costs about $50 more. The Qi4D offers more adjustability and four distinct weight settings. Hit both with your own swing before deciding.

Which 2026 driver is most forgiving?

Among these three core models, the Titleist GTS2 is built for the most stability. For even more forgiveness, especially against a slice, look at the TaylorMade Qi4D Max or Callaway Quantum Max D.

Is the Qi4D worth upgrading from the Qi35?

Plugged In Golf’s tester gained about 2 mph of ball speed and 7 yards of carry over the Qi35, with tighter dispersion. That is a real but modest gain; it matters more if your current driver is poorly fit.

What is the difference between the Quantum Max and Quantum Max D?

The Max D is the more forgiving, draw-biased version for golfers who miss right. The standard Quantum Max is more neutral and adjustable. Both list at $650.

When were these drivers released?

The Callaway Quantum Max reached retail Feb. 13, 2026; the TaylorMade Qi4D arrived in early 2026; and the Titleist GTS2 hit shops June 11, 2026.
