Ruoning Yin Wins Shanghai Again for Back-to-Back LPGA Wins

Ruoning Yin Wins Shanghai Again for Back-to-Back LPGA Wins

Ruoning Yin came into Shanghai fresh off a win at the FM Championship. She left with back-to-back LPGA titles, a second Buick LPGA Shanghai trophy and a piece of history at home. Here’s how she caught Hye-Jin Choi on Sunday, where the season’s big names finished, and what’s next on the Asia swing.

The short version

  • Yin won the Buick LPGA Shanghai at 11-under at Sheshan Golf Club, one shot ahead of Hye-Jin Choi.
  • It’s her second straight LPGA win (after the FM Championship) and the seventh of her career. She earned $480,000.
  • She’s the second player to win this event twice, after Danielle Kang, and the only player from mainland China to win it.
  • Defending champion Jeeno Thitikul tied for eighth. Next up: the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea, Oct. 22–25.

How She Won

Yin was two over in the second round, then played her last 36 holes in nine under. On Sunday she made five birdies against one bogey, with two of those birdies in her last three holes to pass Choi. Her ball-striking carried the week: she hit all 14 fairways in the final round and led the field in greens in regulation (55 of 72).

Yin’s Season So Far

The 23-year-old has made 16 cuts in 18 starts this year, with two wins and six other top-10s, and has passed $3 million in 2026 earnings. The win moved her to No. 5 in the Race to the CME Globe, putting her in the mix for the season finale in Naples.

Two wins in a row, 14 of 14 fairways on Sunday. Yin is the hottest player in the women’s game going into Korea.

What It Means for Player of the Year

Thitikul’s T8 kept her in the race, but she missed a chance at a fifth win. Nelly Korda and Ryu Hae-ran, who split four of the five majors, are the other names at the top (see our LPGA season guide). Yin isn’t in that race yet, but back-to-back wins make her a threat in every remaining event, including the CME.
