Callaway Paradym vs. Paradym Ai Smoke Max: Is the Newer One Worth $30 More Used?

Callaway Paradym vs. Paradym Ai Smoke Max: Is the Newer One Worth $30 More Used?

The short answer: both are Callaway drivers built around a carbon body. Used at Global Golf, the Paradym Ai Smoke Max (2024) starts at $264.99, about $30 more than an original Paradym (2023) at $234.99. A new Ai Smoke Max is $399.99. The newer one adds a titanium support structure inside the carbon body and Callaway’s Ai Smart Face. If you want the lowest price, buy the Paradym. If $30 is fine, the Ai Smoke Max is the newer, lighter design.

What Changed in the Ai Smoke Max

The original Paradym used a full 360° carbon chassis with no metal reinforcement, paired with a forged titanium face (GolfWRX). For the Ai Smoke, National Club Golfer reports Callaway added an internal titanium support structure, which let the rest of the carbon be made 15% lighter. The Max head is also slightly larger than the 2023 Paradym.

The face is the headline change. Callaway says the Ai Smart Face was designed using swing data from thousands of real golfers. That’s Callaway’s claim, so judge it by how the driver performs, not by the name.

What Reviewers Found

National Club Golfer’s reviewer hit the Ai Smoke Max against her own 2023 Paradym: it launched 1.8° higher, spun about 300 rpm less and carried about 7 yards farther. That’s one golfer’s test, so treat it as a hint, not a promise. Plugged In Golf found mid-high launch and mid spin with the stock shaft, tight groupings on mishits, and a more ordinary sound than the original Paradym’s distinctive one.

Is the Ai Smoke Max better than the original Paradym?

What is the Ai Smart Face?

Callaway’s name for a face it says was designed using swing data from thousands of real golfers. It’s a Callaway claim; reviewers mostly noted good consistency on mishits.
