The short answer: the Stealth 2 is two years newer, has TaylorMade’s 60X carbon face, and right now it’s also the cheaper one at Global Golf. The SIM2 Max has a titanium face and launches higher with more spin. For most golfers buying used today, the Stealth 2 is the better buy. The SIM2 Max still makes sense if you struggle to get the ball up and find one at a good price.

The Big Difference: Titanium vs. Carbon Face
The SIM2 Max uses a titanium face with TaylorMade’s Speed Injection. The Stealth 2 uses the 60X Carbon Twist Face, which at 24 grams is two grams lighter than the original Stealth’s. GolfWRX’s launch report says the Stealth 2’s Inverted Cone Technology face is designed to hold ball speed on off-center hits, and the whole head uses far more carbon than the original Stealth.
How They Fly
Golf Monthly found the SIM2 Max just as fast off the face as the standard SIM2 but higher-flying and spinnier, which it said suits golfers who struggle to get tee shots airborne. GolfWRX describes the standard Stealth 2 as a mid-launch, mid-spin driver built for the widest range of players. If your drives are already high, the Stealth 2 is the better fit. If they come out low and run, the SIM2 Max’s extra height can help.
The Price Flip
You’d expect the older driver to be cheaper, but used SIM2 Max stock was sold out at Global Golf when we checked; only new-condition heads were listed, from $349.99. Used Stealth 2 drivers started at $244.99. That makes the newer Stealth 2 about $100 cheaper right now. Used inventory changes daily, so check both links before you buy.
