Michael Brennan keeps winning in the fall. A year after his first PGA Tour title came at the Bank of Utah Championship, the 24-year-old won the Baycurrent Classic in Japan by one shot, his second win of 2026 and third in just 33 starts. He did it with a quiet back nine while the players around him made mistakes. Here’s how it played out, what it gets him, and the Titleist bag he used.
The short version
- Brennan shot a closing 68 to finish at 16-under 268 at Yokohama Country Club, one ahead of Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell.
- It’s his second win of 2026 (he also won the Wyndham Championship) and his third PGA Tour title in 33 starts. He earned $1.44 million.
- Defending champion Xander Schauffele was one back on the 18th tee, drove into the trees and made double bogey to tie for fourth.
- The win lifts Brennan into the top 25 in the world ranking for the first time.
- His bag is almost all Titleist: GT3 driver, T100 and 620 CB irons, Vokey SM11 wedges, a Scotty Cameron putter and a Pro V1.
How He Won
Brennan bogeyed the 10th, then birdied 11 and 12 and parred his way in. His best moment came at the par-3 16th, where he splashed out of a greenside bunker to about a foot. Behind him, the contenders blinked. Mitchell had a two-shot lead after a run of five under in five holes, including an eagle, but played his last 10 holes in two over. Bridgeman missed a five-foot birdie putt at 17 and then ran a long birdie try past on 18. Schauffele’s double bogey on the last ended his title defense.

Jordan Spieth tied for 13th at 11 under in his first fall start, and 2021 winner Hideki Matsuyama tied for 21st.
Why the FedEx Cup Points Didn’t Count
Brennan was already a FedEx Cup playoff qualifier (he finished the season 46th), so the 500 points for the win weren’t handed out. Fall points only go to players still fighting for status. That’s why Mitchell’s tie for second (245 points) was the bigger result for the card race. Last week’s winner in Utah, Austin Smotherman, was in the opposite spot: his win came with the full 500.
Three PGA Tour wins in 33 starts, and two of them in the fall. Brennan has figured out how to close.
What’s in Michael Brennan’s Bag
| Club | Model |
|---|---|
| Driver | Titleist GT3, 9° (Project X HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX 70 TX) |
| 3-wood | Titleist GTS prototype, 15° |
| 7-wood | Titleist GTS3, 21° |
| Irons | Titleist T100 (4–5), Titleist 620 CB (6–9) |
| Wedges | Titleist Vokey SM11 46°, 50°, 54°, 60° |
| Putter | Scotty Cameron GOLO 6 Tour prototype |
| Ball | Titleist Pro V1 |
Two things stand out: a 7-wood instead of a hybrid or long iron, a setup that has become more common on tour for high, soft long approaches, and a split iron set with forgiving T100s at the top and older 620 CB cavity-backs in the scoring clubs.
The Gear You Can Actually Buy
His putter is a tour-only prototype, but the driver and ball are easy to find.
Titleist GT3 Driver
From $449.99The same GT3 that Smotherman won with in Utah a week earlier: Titleist’s adjustable, lower-spin head with a sliding weight track. Global Golf had it new from $449.99 (up to $649.99 depending on setup) and used from about $285 when we checked on Oct. 12. It’s a good example of why we like buying last year’s driver used (here’s how that works). Compare it with this year’s models in our 2026 driver guide.

- An off week. The PGA Tour has no event Oct. 15–18; the FedEx Cup Fall resumes at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship (Oct. 22–25).
- Brennan’s ranking. He’s in the world top 25 for the first time, a big jump for a player who was a sponsor’s invite in Utah a year ago.
- The card race. Five fall events remain before the top 100 is set at the RSM Classic on Nov. 22 (how it works).
