The PGA Tour’s 2027 calendar is the biggest reshuffle in years: a shorter season, no Hawaii opener, a new event in Napa, and the BMW Championship moving to New York’s doorstep. Before any of that, there are seven fall events left in 2026 that decide who keeps their card. Here’s everything that changes and what’s at stake between now and Thanksgiving.
The short version
- 2027 has 36 events, running Jan. 18 to Aug. 29.
- The season opens at The American Express in La Quinta, Calif., not in Hawaii.
- New event: the Sompo Championship at Silverado in Napa (July 26–Aug. 1).
- The BMW Championship moves to Liberty National in Jersey City; the Tour Championship stays at East Lake.
- This fall, the top 100 in the FedEx Cup Fall standings keep full cards for 2027.
The Biggest 2027 Changes
- A shorter season. 36 official events, with the Tour Championship ending Aug. 29. The fall schedule for late 2027 hasn’t been announced.
- A new opener. The American Express (Jan. 18–24, PGA West) starts the year. The Sentry at Kapalua was already cancelled in 2026 because of course conditions.
- The Cadillac Championship moves up. It’s now March 1–7 at Trump National Doral, with the Arnold Palmer Invitational shifting to March 15–21.
- A new West Coast stop. The Sompo Championship at Silverado’s North Course becomes the second-to-last regular-season event.
- A new home for the BMW. The second playoff event goes to Liberty National, with the Manhattan skyline in the background.

Right Now: The 2026 FedEx Cup Fall
The Tour Championship is over, but the season isn’t. The fall events don’t matter much to Scottie Scheffler (his season is here). They matter a lot to players around No. 100 in the standings.
| Ends | Event | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Oct. 4 | Bank of Utah Championship | Black Desert Resort, Ivins, Utah |
| Oct. 11 | Baycurrent Classic | Japan |
| Oct. 25 | Butterfield Bermuda Championship | Bermuda |
| Nov. 1 | VidantaWorld Mexico Open | Mexico |
| Nov. 8 | World Wide Technology Championship | Mexico |
| Nov. 15 | Good Good Championship | Texas |
| Nov. 22 | The RSM Classic | Sea Island, Ga. |
What’s at Stake This Fall
- Top 100: full PGA Tour cards for 2027.
- 101–125: conditional status, with priority based on where you finish.
- 51–60: spots in the first two 2027 signature events, the Genesis Invitational and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
When the fall started, Billy Horschel sat at No. 100 with Lucas Glover just behind him at No. 101. Jordan Spieth, Keith Mitchell and Max Homa were at Nos. 51–53, right on the edge of the signature-event spots, with Shane Lowry and Brian Harman among the players close enough to move into them.
This Week: Bank of Utah Championship
Jackson Koivun, the 21-year-old who went unbeaten at the Presidents Cup last week, is the betting favorite at Black Desert. He won the 3M Open earlier this year for his first PGA Tour title. Michael Brennan is the defending champion; his win here last year came on a sponsor invite and turned into a two-year exemption, which is exactly the kind of life-changing week the fall exists for.
For most fans the season ended at East Lake. For the players ranked 90 to 130, the most important stretch of the year starts now.
