Scottie Scheffler’s 2026 Season, and What’s in His Bag Right Now

Scottie Scheffler’s 2026 Season, and What’s in His Bag Right Now

Scottie Scheffler didn’t win a major in 2026, and he still had the best year in golf. He won three times, took his second FedEx Cup, passed Tiger Woods for the most career earnings in PGA Tour history and finished the season with almost double the world-ranking average of anyone else. Here’s the season in numbers, what’s in his bag right now, and what to look for from him next.

The short version

  • 3 wins in 2026, including the FedEx St. Jude Championship (by 8) and the Tour Championship (by 3).
  • Second FedEx Cup title (also 2024). Only Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy had won more than one.
  • 22 career PGA Tour wins and about $130.4 million in career earnings, passing Woods’ $121 million.
  • No major win, but second at the Masters, T4 at the U.S. Open and top five at The Open.
  • New this summer: a TaylorMade Qi4D driver, which he used to win in Memphis.

The 2026 Season in Numbers

Stat2026
PGA Tour wins3
FedEx Cup1st (4,123 points)
Tour ChampionshipWon at −16, 3 ahead of Viktor Hovland ($10 million)
FedEx St. JudeWon at −17, 8 ahead of Si Woo Kim
Majors2nd Masters, T4 U.S. Open, top-5 Open
Presidents Cup2 points; anchored the Scheffler–Burns fourball pairing
World rankingNo. 1 (18.48 avg. points vs. McIlroy’s 9.10 on Sept. 2)

The two playoff wins came within 14 days of each other, and an eight-shot win in a 70-man playoff field is about as dominant as the modern tour gets. That stretch is why the world-ranking gap is so large: his average is roughly twice McIlroy’s at No. 2.

So Why No Major?

He was close in three of the four. McIlroy beat him by one at Augusta, Wyndham Clark held on at Shinnecock and Ryan Fox birdied the last hole at Birkdale. That’s not a slump. It’s what happens when the rest of the top 10 keeps getting better, and it’s why the 2026 majors ended up with four different winners.

What’s in Scottie Scheffler’s Bag (Fall 2026)

Scheffler is famously slow to change equipment, and most of his bag is a generation or two old. The big change this year was the driver.

He had the Qi4D in play when he won the FedEx St. Jude in August, replacing the Qi10 driver he’d used for the previous two seasons. The 3-wood is still a Qi10. Equipment reports differ slightly on his long-game setup from week to week, so treat the utility-iron slot as the one most likely to change.

The Gear You Can Actually Buy

You can’t buy his exact P7TW irons off the rack, and his wedges are a model or two old. These three are the easiest pieces of his bag to put in yours.

His Driver

TaylorMade Qi4D Driver

$649.99

TaylorMade’s 2026 tour flagship, with four movable weights and a 4-degree loft sleeve. It’s built for a balanced, tour-style flight rather than maximum forgiveness, so most golfers should look at the 10.5° head before Scheffler’s 8°. Our 2026 driver comparison stacks it against Callaway’s Quantum and Titleist’s GTS2.

His Ball

Titleist Pro V1 (Dozen)

$58.00

The most-played ball on tour and the ball Scheffler has played for years. It’s a mid-to-high compression ball, so it suits faster swings best. Our compression chart shows whether it fits yours.

His Putter

TaylorMade Spider Tour X

A high-MOI mallet that resists twisting on off-center putts. It’s an older Spider model, so it’s often easiest to find used or discounted. Compare it with the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 and Odyssey White Hot in our putter showdown.

What to Look For Next

  • A lighter fall. Top players rarely play much of the FedEx Cup Fall, and he has nothing left to chase in the standings.
  • 2027 starts later. The new PGA Tour schedule opens Jan. 18 at The American Express instead of in Hawaii. Every 2027 change is here.
  • The majors gap. His next real target is Augusta in April, where he’ll be trying to stop McIlroy from winning three straight.
  • Equipment. Watch whether the Qi4D stays in the bag through the winter. When he changes something, it usually sticks.
What driver does Scottie Scheffler use?

A TaylorMade Qi4D with 8 degrees of loft and a Fujikura Ventus Black 7 X shaft. He put it in play this summer and won the FedEx St. Jude Championship with it.

What golf ball does Scottie Scheffler play?

The Titleist Pro V1, currently $58 a dozen at Titleist.

How many times has Scheffler won the FedEx Cup?

Twice, in 2024 and 2026. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are the only other players with more than one.
