Ruoning Yin’s run ended in Korea, and a new name took the trophy. Yuri Yoshida came from four shots back on Sunday to win the BMW Ladies Championship for her first LPGA title. Here’s how she did it, who just missed, and what’s next on the Asia swing.
The short version
- Yoshida, 26, of Japan, won at 17-under 271 at Pine Beach Golf Links, one shot ahead of Hye-Jin Choi and Haeran Ryu.
- She closed with a 4-under 68, including an eagle on No. 2 and three straight birdies on Nos. 5–7, to erase a four-shot deficit.
- It’s her first LPGA win, worth $352,500. She’s the fourth Japanese winner and the fourth first-time winner on tour this season.
- Next up: the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 29–Nov. 1.
How She Won
Overnight leader Haeran Ryu, the world No. 3, shot 73 on Sunday. Yoshida got going early with an eagle at the par-5 2nd and a birdie run from 5 through 7, and a bunker shot at the 17th set up the birdie that put her in front. Choi (69) and Ryu both bogeyed their final hole to finish a shot back. For Choi, it’s a third runner-up of the season, after also finishing second in Shanghai a week earlier.
| Pos. | Player | Score | Earnings |

| T6 | Nasa Hataoka, Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Carlota Ciganda, Grace Kim | −14 | $63,302 |
Four first-time winners and four Japanese champions in one season. The LPGA’s depth keeps growing.
What It Means
Defending champion Sei Young Kim tied for 55th. Ryu’s runner-up keeps her near the top of the season-long races going into the final four events (see our LPGA season guide), and Yin’s bid for a third straight win, after her Shanghai title, came up short.
